About Me
I am Kim, and I am already looking forward to get to know you. Professionally, I hold two degrees in Psychology (BSc, MSc) as well as a postgraduate diploma in Person-Centred Conselling (PGDiP). I have completed training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialective Behavioural Therapy (DBT). In sessions, I also use interventions from Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Schema Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. Alongside private practice, I have been working for the NHS in a mental health setting where I was mostly seeing clients who have suffered from traumatic experiences. However, although I am familiar with labels, medical terms and with professional qualifications, I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the precursor for change. This is also backed up by current research. Thus, deeply relating to my clients, wanting to understand fully what is going on for them whilst being an authentic person they can build trust with, is my overarching aim. To me, this means being consistent, reliable, accountable, and honest about the fact, that no one but you can find answers for your life. However, I would love to accompany you on the way.
